World Sport Destination Expo Shows Thought Leadership in Sports Tourism

August 10, 2009

World Sport Destination Expo (WSDE), the global market place for sport tourism, has announced it has formed a content partnership with SportBusiness Group, the world’s leading supplier of information, media and B2B marketing services to the sports industry. The deal will see SportBusiness create an education programme to run alongside WSDE and provide content for the event programme bringing its editorial expertise to the world’s first sport destination exhibition.

Speaking at the announcement of the deal, Chris Frost , WSDE’s Director said: “The addition of SportBusiness as a content partner is a great boost to World Sport Destination Expo. Sports tourism is an area whose importance has not been fully appreciated until now and the education programme will be a real opportunity for both exhibitors and visitors to gain from the advanced knowledge of market leaders. ”

“SportBusiness has published extensively in this area and signing them as content partner shows the seriousness with which the industry is taking World Sport Destination Expo. We are looking forward to working with them to design a programme tailored to the needs of those looking to host sports events and sports tourists.”

SportBusiness Group’s publishing director, Phil Savage confirmed the group’s interest. “Sporting events have the power to bring economic and many other benefits to their hosts and in tough economic times a very welcome feelgood factor. SportBusiness has worked with bidding cities on the past four competitions to stage summer and winter Olympic Games and understand well what it takes to bring sports events home. World Sport Destination Expo will be a good opportunity for all players in this exciting market to get to know each other better and will no doubt play a part in deciding where future sports events will be held.”

WSDE will be the first global business forum dedicated to showcasing the $600 billion a year sport tourism industry. Co-located alongside the 2010 FIFA World Cup in Johannesburg, the world’s most sought after sporting destinations, sports resorts, tour operators, specialist event organisers, sporting bid committees, financial investors and elite corporate buyers will meet to sell and sign new contracts over 5 dedicated business days on 5-9 July 2010.
