February 4, 2009

SKILLMAN, N.J. – The University of Wisconsin women’s tennis team will host 16 of the top teams in the nation at the 2009 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) National Women’s Tennis Team Indoor Championships. The tournament will take place February 13 – 16 at the A.C. Nielsen Tennis Stadium in Madison, Wisconsin.

“The ITA is delighted to have our Championships return to A.C. Nielsen Tennis Stadium,” said David A Benjamin, Executive Director of the ITA. “All our varsity student-athletes are looking forward to participating in this great event and we are most appreciative of the University of Wisconsin for serving as the host institution for the 22nd consecutive year at one of the ITA’s most prestigious events.”

“The National Indoor Championship is such a great event,” said Wisconsin Women’s Head Coach Brian Fleishman. “All of the teams and coaches really enjoy making their way to Madison come February. It is an early look at how the NCAA tournament will look in May. There are no easy matches at the Team Indoors and everybody gets better by seeing what they need to work on for the rest of the season.”
