Rich Francey Tapped for Babolat Western Regional Sales Manager

February 18, 2009

Boulder, Colorado — Babolat, a leading manufacturer of tennis products, announces Rich Francey has been tapped as Western Regional Sales Manager for the company.

Francey has spent the last 26 years with Prince Racquet Sports, first as a teaching pro, ultimately joining the Prince sales force in 2000. Most recently, Francey was Territory Manager for southern California and Tennis Warehouse, and was twice named rep of the year. He is also the past president of Sajam sports, a sports promotion company in Salt Lake City, Utah. “Joining the Babolat team at a time when the brand is on the verge of breaking through in the US market is very exciting. I believe there’s tremendous potential to expand the Babolat reach through teaching pros and grassroots activities so I’m excited to be a part of growing this business.”

As former Tennis Director of the Snowbird Canyon Racquet Club in Salt Lake City, Francey brings a strong background in teaching, coaching, and promoting the game of tennis through camps and programs that encourage adult tennis participation. “My goal is to get more people on the courts, to see them enjoy the game, and to see the game continue to grow. And while they’re out there, they might as well be using a Babolat racquet!”

Tim McCool, Managing Director of Babolat USA, commented, “Rich’s bevy of tennis experience, product knowledge, and familiarity with the club player market will be a valuable asset to Babolat. He’s got a great reputation in the industry and is passionate about the game – we’re thrilled to have him on board.”

Michael Lata, who previously managed sales efforts in the West, will transition to a new role as National Strategic Account Manager. “In order to position ourselves to achieve our future growth objectives for 2009 and beyond,” explains McCool, “we’ve created a new management position within our organization that will be headed up by Michael Lata. In addition, Michael will have sales responsibilities in northern California as well as Tennis Warehouse.”
