HEAD Signs World No. 3 Novak Djokovic

Kennelbach – Austria – January 2009 – HEAD announced that the company has signed a long term agreement with tennis superstar Novak Djokovic of Serbia, who currently ranks third in the South African Airways ATP ranking. Djokovic will make his debut as a HEAD athlete at the Brisbane International this week. The partnership became effective on January 1st, 2009.

“I am extremely excited to be joining the HEAD family, as HEAD is well-known and well-respected on the tour,” said Djokovic. “This gives me an exciting opportunity to play with a racquet that has the technology with the right feel to compliment my aggressive style of play.”

Djokovic represents the next generation in professional tennis and joins an established roster of professionals who choose HEAD as their racquet of choice, including two other Top 10 players in Andy Murray and Gilles Simon.

“Signing Djokovic, a top 3 ATP player and potential world No. 1, completes what has become a formidable HEAD team and further strengthens our presence on the ATP Tour,” said Johan Eliasch, CEO of the HEAD N.V. Coached by former ATP pro and Slovak Republic native Marian Vajda, Djokovic began playing tennis at the age of four and made his pro debut in 2003 at the age of 16. After the 2006-07 season, he was named the ATP’s “Most Improved Player of the Year”. He has captured four titles in seven finals last year, including his first career Grand Slam at the Australian Open and the Tennis Masters Cup in Shanghai.

“HEAD offers me great racquet technology which is exactly what I need for my game,” said Djokovic. “I am pleased to play with HEAD as they develop racquets with their players and taking care of our individual needs.”

Born in Belgrade, Serbia in 1987, he currently resides in Monte Carlo, Monaco. Djokovic comes from a family of professional athletes, as his father, uncle and aunt were professional skiers.
