Tennis Channel Asks Viewers to Pick Best Match of 2008
LOS ANGELES, December 19 2008 - Tennis Channel, the only 24-hour, television-based multimedia destination dedicated to both the professional sport and passionate lifestyle of tennis, asked fans to rank the ten best professional tennis matches that the network televised in 2008. To nobody’s surprise the Roger Federer versus Rafael Nadal Wimbledon Final was a landslide winner with more than 53% of the vote.
Results from the year-end You Make The Call online vote will be air during a 10-night countdown from Dec. 22-31 at 8 p.m. ET, with one match airing in its entirety each night.
Here’s a look at the order of finish (most votes shows on Dec 31).

12-22 - Qatar Telecom German Open final - Dinara Safina def. Elena Dementieva (3-6, 6-2, 6-2)
12-23 - Zurich semifinals - Venus Williams def. Ana Ivanovic (4-6, 6-3, 6-4)
12-24 - Berlin quarterfinals - Dinara Safina def. Serena Williams (2-6, 6-1, 7-6)
12-25 - Stuttgart semifinals - Jelena Jankovic def. Venus Williams (7-6, 5-7, 6-2)
12-26 - WTA Medibank International semifinals - Justine Henin def. Ana Ivanovic (6-2, 2-6, 6-4)
12-27 - Artois Championships final - Rafael Nadal def. Novak Djokovic (7-6, 7-5)
12-28 - Madrid Masters semifinal - Gilles Simon def. Rafael Nadal (3-6, 5-7, 7-6)
12-29 - Masters Hamburg final - Rafael Nadal def. Roger Federer (7-5, 6-7, 6-3)
12-30 - Wimbledon final - Venus Williams def. Serena Williams (7-5, 6-4)
12-31 - Wimbledon final - Rafael Nadal def. Roger Federer (6-4, 6-4, 6-7, 6-7, 9-7)
Following the New Year’s Eve telecast of the match that receives the most votes, Tennis Channel will recap each of the top-five matches during a New Year’s Day replay.
