Yanina Wickmayer, Belgian Tennis Star, Signs with IMG
Brussels, Belgium, October 30, 2008 - Yanina Wickmayer, the 19 year old Belgian tennis player, has signed with IMG, the world’s largest sports marketing and management agency, it was announced today by Igor Takacs, Vice President of IMG Belgium.
Yanina has achieved some notable results this year which include reaching her first Sony Ericsson WTA Tour final at the DFS Classic in Birmingham and the quarter-finals of Seoul. Wickmayer, from Lier, Belgium, has seen her Sony Ericsson WTA Tour ranking jump 350 places to a career high of 62 in just 12 months.
“We’re delighted that Yanina has selected IMG for exclusive representation,” says Olivier van Lindonk, Vice-President IMG Tennis, who will, together with Caroline Lacy of IMG London, coordinate the management and marketing team, for Wickmayer globally.
Adds Igor Takacs , Vice President of IMG Belgium, who will be a key part of Wickmayer’s team, “We have a great history of successful female tennis players in Belgium and Yanina is our next young star to make a breakthrough on the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour.”
