Rob Grow Joins Prince as Director for USA Apparel
Bordentown, NJ - October 29, 2008 - Prince is pleased to announce the appointment of Robert Grow to Director, USA Apparel for Prince Sports, Inc. Rob joins the Company from Athco, Inc., the North American apparel licensee for Wilson Sporting Goods. While at Athco, Rob assumed the role of President for their tennis apparel division where his responsibilities varied from product development and inventory control to designing performance apparel and catalog design.
As Director, USA Apparel, Rob will manage all USA apparel sales and marketing initiatives, collaborating with Jane Gao, Global Business Manager of Apparel, Bag and Accessories, on product development and sourcing and reporting directly to John Embree, President, Prince Americas. Grow will be responsible for building upon the successful re-launch of Prince’s apparel business last year with the introduction of Aerotech.
“This is an incredible opportunity to join a global leader that has the opportunity to really take off in performance apparel,” Grow said. “The introduction of Aerotech last year was the first step in establishing Prince as a major player in the category. I look forward to building upon that success and using it as a stepping stone to introduce some truly innovative product and taking this Prince apparel to the next level.”
Grow is uniquely qualified to take this new position as his background holds both performance apparel and tennis experience. He served as Director of Tennis Operations at The Boca Grande Club in Boca Grande Florida throughout the 1990’s and then as Senior Product Manager of Apparel for Spiele, LLC for six years prior to his most recent role at Athco. He was a ranked junior player who played on the satellite circuit for two years before attending Florida State University.
According to Embree, “I have known Robert for many years and regard his keen understanding of both the fashion and business sides of athletic apparel. He has strong industry relationships with retailers, a true knack for sourcing and a natural understanding of what players need and want on court. As we move forward and continue our commitment to this category, he is the perfect person to lead the charge.”
Grow will be based in Bordentown, New Jersey the global headquarters of Prince Sports, Inc.
