Climb For Cancer Foundation Partners with USTA Florida Section Foundation and USTA Florida

August 27, 2008

DAYTONA BEACH, FL — The Climb for Cancer Foundation has teamed up with the USTA Florida Section Foundation for a charitable tennis event at Bardmoor Golf & Tennis Club in Largo and the Hilton Clearwater Beach Resort during USTA Florida’s 59th Annual Meeting and Volunteer Appreciation Weekend, Dec. 5-7. In addition to recognizing USTA Florida volunteer successes during its annual awards luncheon and breakfast and hosting a regional tennis challenge, the weekend will include a beach party for invited volunteers and guests, a live and silent auction, amazing raffle prizes and a dinner dance. Additionally, the event will feature an Inaugural Pro-Am Tennis Event including past and present tennis greats like MaliVai Washington. The two charitable organizations have joined together in an effort to raise awareness and resources to benefit cancer research and patient support at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, as well as providing quality tennis opportunities for all Floridians.

Community involvement is essential to the success of the weekend through attendance, sponsorships, raffle ticket sales and generous donations. Please read below and see how you can aid in the fight against cancer and help people play the lifetime sport of tennis.

Sponsorship Opportunities

Being a sponsor provides excellent visibility throughout the state of Florida. Every sponsor will receive publicity through USTA Florida’s website, e-newsletter, statewide publication Play Tennis Florida and through press releases. There are five levels of sponsorship, including a $10,000 US Open level, $5,000 Wimbledon level, $2,000 French Open level, $1,000 Australian Open level and $500 Sony Ericsson Open level. Detailed sponsor packages are listed on cfc-foundation.org and ustaflorida.com. To receive a sponsorship brochure please contact Lynne Salus, USTA Florida Director of Volunteer Development at (954) 625-6259 or [email protected].

Donation Opportunities

The Climb for Cancer Foundation and USTA Florida Section Foundation are accepting in-kind donations, financial contributions and items for the live and silent auctions (minimum value is $25 for silent auction and $1000 for live auction). Donors of all levels will be recognized throughout the event. Current and past donations have included fantastic weekend getaways to beautiful resorts and destinations, autographed tennis memorabilia, gift baskets, tournament packages and tickets to professional sporting events. For donations, please contact Linda Curtis, USTA Florida Director of Community Development, at (386) 671-8934 or [email protected].

Raffle Tickets

Win a once in a lifetime experience! USTA Florida and the two charitable foundations are offering raffle tickets as part of its fundraising efforts. The grand prize for the raffle drawing is priceless, as it includes two tickets to the USTA President’s Box, round trip airfare for two to New York and two nights hotel accommodations in New York City for the 2009 US Open. Did you know that access to the President’s Suite is by invitation only and cannot be purchased by anyone? Second prize includes two courtside box seat tickets to the 2009 US Open and third prize is a two night stay at the Diplomat Hotel in Hollywood, Fla. With each ticket calling for a $50 donation which is tax deductable, the chance to win one of these great prizes is high as there are only 1,000 tickets available.

Be a part of another contest opportunity by selling raffle tickets for the two foundations. For every 10 raffle tickets an individual sells, their name will be submitted into a contest to win two Sony Ericsson Open courtside box seat tickets plus $500 spending money. The option to sell raffle tickets is available to everyone and tickets must be requested in groups of 10. Completed ticket booklets must be returned to the USTA Florida office in Daytona Beach by October 15.

Both the raffle and contest drawings will take place Saturday night, Dec. 6. Winners need not be present to win. To purchase a raffle ticket or request a raffle booklet to sell, please contact Linda Matthews, USTA Florida Executive Administrator, at (386) 671-8940 or [email protected].
