Family Circle Cup Selects Winner of Fifth Annual T-Shirt Design Contest
CHARLESTON, SC (January 16, 2008) — The Family Circle Cup is proud to announce the fifth annual Family Circle Cup official T-shirt design contest WINNER! This year’s winning submission came from 26-year-old Joanna Hall from Lexington, KY. Hall is an avid tennis player who participates in USTA league tennis throughout the year, and plans to attend the tournament with all of her teammates. The Family Circle Cup, the longest running Tier I clay court event in the country, will celebrate its 35th anniversary April 12th - 20th, 2008 at the Family Circle Tennis Center in Charleston, South Carolina.
In addition to the media exposure that her artwork will receive, Joanna’s design will appear on hundreds of official Family Circle Cup T-shirts that will be available for retail purchase during the 35th anniversary celebration event. Her artwork will also be displayed on the Family Circle Cup web site leading up to, and throughout the duration of the 2008 tournament. As the contest winner, Joanna will be receiving a T-shirt featuring her design signed by many of the top tennis stars competing in the tournament, along with two tickets to the semifinals and finals of the 2008 Family Circle Cup. Joanna will also receive $100.00 in cash for her winning entry. A copy of her winning design can be viewed on the tournament’s official web site www.familycirclecup.com.
“This contest has grown and grown over the past five years making it very hard to choose only one design that best depicts the look and feel of this world class event,” commented Elizabeth Skogman, Family Circle Cup Marketing Manager. “After yet another tough decision, our selection committee felt Joanna’s design truly captured the excitement of the Family Circle Cup and this year’s 35th anniversary.”
In October of 2007, the Family Circle Cup issued a challenge to artists to create a 12” × 12” hand drawn or computer-generated design that reflected the image and atmosphere of the Family Circle Cup, as well as the historic celebration of our 35th anniversary. Joanna’s design was chosen from entries coming predominantly from South Carolina and the southeast. The Family Circle Cup would like to thank all of the talented artists who participated, and to acknowledge the great skill and effort that went into their submissions.
The 2008 Family Circle Cup will be held April 12th - 20th at the Family Circle Tennis Center in Charleston, South Carolina. The Family Circle Tennis Center is a public facility owned by the City of Charleston and operated by Family Circle Magazine that hosts a variety of events including concerts, festivals, tennis events and other special activities throughout the year.
