Port Saint Lucie’s Zguns Wins Singles Title at USPTA Championships
Wesley Chapel, Fla. –- Adrians Zguns of Port Saint Lucie, Fla., claimed the men’s open title at the $30,000 USPTA International Championships Thursday at the Saddlebrook Resort Tennis Center in Wesley Chapel, Fla.
Zguns, the No. 2 seed, earned the championship title by defeating Julien Link, the No. 1 seed, from Sarasota, Fla., 7-6, 0-6, 6-2.
The championships, open only to USPTA-certified tennis professionals, were played as part of the USPTA’s World Conference on Tennis. The conference is scheduled Sept. 17-22 at the Saddlebrook Resort in Wesley Chapel, Fla. It includes the international championships, more than 35 seminars and courses, a buying show, awards presentation, silent auction of tennis and sports memorabilia and more. It is attended by nearly 1,500 tennis-teaching professionals, industry leaders, manufacturers and media.
