John Isner Officially Signs With Prince Sports, Inc.
Bordentown, NJ – September 4, 2007 –- Prince has big news to share…literally. After years of playing with their racquets, John Isner, the six foot, nine inch American up-and-comer has officially signed with the industry leader. By making the partnership official, the 22 year-old Isner becomes the latest addition to a growing and impressive list of touring pros choosing Prince and taking advantage of O3 racquet technology.
Isner, who graduated from the University of Georgia this past May plays the O3 White, using it to capture the 2007 NCAA team title for the Bulldogs and more recently to make a run to the finals of the Legg Mason Classic in D.C. Last week, Isner gained the attention of fans around the world by showing off his huge game en route to a third round appearance in his first ever US Open.
“The past few days have been surreal,” said Isner. “I came into the Open not knowing what to expect and I left capturing my first Grand Slam win, getting the chance to play on Arthur Ashe Stadium court against the world’s #1 and signing with Prince – it has been awesome. Prince has been a huge factor in my recent success – both at Georgia and in my short time on tour. As with nearly every other player who has made the switch to an O3 racquet, my game has improved. I have become more consistent from the baseline and have increased the speed of my serve by a few miles per hour. It is exciting to make the partnership official and become part of the team.”
Isner joins other players such as Mike and Bob Bryan, Marion Bartoli, Jelena Jankovic, Sam Querrey and Shahar Peer, all of whom have decided to switch to an O3 frame. In fact, in only two short years, close to 100 ATP and WTA players have made the switch to the new racquet technology, capturing over 260 tour titles and 10 Grand Slams.
“We have known John for a long time and it has been a pleasure to watch him grow as a person and a player. In only a short period on the pro tour, John has shown his incredible potential, capturing the attention of insiders and fans with a game that is as big as he is,” said Linda Glassel, VP of Marketing and Communications at Prince. “He is a fierce competitor but a true gentleman, both on and off the court, and we are lucky to have him represent the brand. We look forward to a long relationship with John and celebrating many wins with him.”
